Operation: Cinderella

wedding shoes by Badgley Mischka
With almost three weeks to go, I realised I haven't found the perfect pair to go with the gown. Well, I actually found something in the malls, but it's either they are not in the color I want, not the design (but has the color), may have the same design (but still isn't what I'm looking for), too pricey, or simply does not fit my inconveniently small feet. In other words, I guess, I wouldn't have much of a choice but to have my shoes customised.

A few of the advantages I see in customising shoes are they can be made to your size and fit (high-arched, for example, just like mine) and to your design. Not to mention, Mum would need her shoes customised as well, since she'll be needing an extra inch for one foot.

As usual, my place of refuge when it comes to searching for potential workers would be GT. It has been quite a talk that a certain Abbylynn's Footwear shop in Cubao makes customised shoes.

I decided to drop by their shop earlier this week to check them out. The store is just near Bellini's on the other side, beside Bandolino. It is just a small indeed, with shoes all over the place.

I then asked how it would cost for a pair and what it includes. They said they make shoes for 1400 Php per pair, and since my design uses lace, I would need to provide the lace. Apparently, since my color isn't really common among weddings (for shoes, that is), I would also need to provide that for the lace lining. Each pair would eat around half a yard of each fabric. So that would be 1400 plus around 150 for half a yard of lace and around 35 for half a yard of satin - total of 1585 for a pair of customised shoes in the color and design I want. Hmmm... Fair enough. Then I asked how it will take them to have these done - they said about two to three weeks. I think I still have enough time, so I looked around the store and found some more designs that we can incorporate to the design [I kinda thought about it, the design was kinda bland, and I read from a blog that Abbylyn has the tendency to not see symmetry with designs on the side - not that I believe that; the writer may be just OC, but who knows, I might be just as OC as she is]. There were a quite a handful of designs to choose from, and these are actually what they had made in the past, so I guess it is safe to go with these ones.

When got in the office, I thought of searching for more pegs online. Now, all that you see in this post are what I got. I really wanted peep-toes, since I prefer showing off my toes (which I have painted red). So it wouldn't really stray away from the original peg, only with a few more accents.

This is where you guys would come in. Which of these do you would go well? I'm also thinking of putting a strap either across the foot or around the ankle. For now, I'm just concerned what accent I should put. So think about this people: Black lace on yellow satin for the body, then maybe, yellow accent.

  3. IMO, for the shoe accent, i'd pick the second one (Elijah Peep-toe by Nina Women's). first and fourth shoe-accents are too simple. the accent of the third design is pretty and girly, but i don't find it "mafia-ish". the second shoe-accent has a vintage feel and is not too loud, making it look classy :)

  8. I had the same design for my wedding shoes! Yung may flower, but mine was made in our color motif. Pinagawa ko rin sa abbylyns. :)
