After the Royal Wedding last April, most girls are wishing to be as stunning as the Duchess of Cambridge when she walked down Westminster Abbey's aisle, or when we she was waving to the crowd in the streets of London and everybody else around the world, with her Prince beside. Now everyone wants to have their weddings to be like the Royal Wedding. So, I thought of checking with our good friend Mr Google, and find out if this indeed followed the trends, or have probably set a new one.
- The first article I read about was saved a few months ago, from BridalBook.ph. According to premier event stylist Dylan Gozum of Vatel Manila in his article published on BridalBook.ph last January, trend this year will go around vintage, shabby chic, loose bouquets and patterns. Well, these have been around since late last year, and I guess we'll see more of these, plus a little more of classic designs with a touch of modern ideas. He also added lots of DIYs (hooray for practical and OC brides!), simply classic details (and there goes the usual line: simple but elegant), morning receptions (thank you Juday for popularising this idea) and Go Green weddings.

- I stumbled upon this article on Stylebrity.com dated 6th June 2010 about what's gonna be hot when it comes to wedding gowns in 2011. The article reads: "Short and sweet was one of the biggest trends for s/s 2011 and our favorite - daring minis from Marchesa and other designers put the trend for short hems a cut above - if you have the pins to pull it off. Other trends were Original Origami, a classic look with modern intricate twists and artictic folds on classic shaped dresses Romance-designers showed wedding dresses in layer upon layer of enveloping tulle. A huge trend this season, generous wisps of the 'light as a feather" fabric adorned dresses in almost every collection that floated down the catwalk, transparent acres of tulle were everywhere. Ruffles were big as was the trumpet and A-line shape." With that, I guess we'll see more of Rajo Laurel's ruffles and huge flowers, layers from Cecilio Abad, or lacey designs from Veluz Reyes. One thing I'm seeing now are more on cocktails and dainty sweet dresses, not just for the entourage, but for the blushing bride as well, with the likes of budding wedding fashion designer Rei Rana, Ven Ocampo, or more of the traditional long dashing gowns of Boy Kastner Santos.
- I also saw this article on Stylish Wedding Ideas, where they emphasized the outdoors, pretty and simple, keen eyes for detail (perhaps more of the unconventional ones to make the wedding unique), DIYs, and vintage feel. There would be more space for creativity, old school approach with a touch of modern ideas and brides being hands on. Well, this tells me I'm in.

- I guess, to top this off, I found an article on Your Wedding Company, listing their forecast on wedding trends for 2011, which included flowy long dresses with crystal, sequins and pearl bead embellishments or modified and simple A-line tea skirts with defined but plain details for wedding dresses; short trains and bird cage veils, fascintators, pearls and crystals for accessories; unusual and personalised wedding favors with lots of DIYs; bridal carriages, limousines or vintage cars for the bridal getaway; and eco-friendly weddings. The site also listed some hot color picks (which just proved that our colors are hot this year) with some inspiration boards to help brides and planners see the whole thingamajig.
Overall, candid wedding photography will [always] be in trends, as with themes, coordinating details and anything that would bring out the personality and uniqueness of the couple. Well, that should be good, because a wedding is not just for the guests, but all about the couple - a celebration of their love, a new beginning, and blissful marriage.
